FRIENDSHIP
In the sequence of the emotional development of the individual, friendships come after parental bonding and before the pair bonding engaged in at the approach of maturity. In the intervening period between the end of early childhood and the onset of full adulthood, friendships are often the most important relationships in the emotional life of the adolescent, and are often more intense than relationships later in life. However making friends seems to trouble lots of people, sometimes going years . Yet for many, friendship is nothing more than the trust that someone or something without a single friend can lead to suicide.
According to Ralph Waldo Emerson:
Friendship may be said to require natures so rare and costly, each so well tempered and so happily adapted, and withal so circumstanced, (for even in that particular, a poet says, love demands that the parties be altogether paired,) that its satisfaction can very seldom be assured. It cannot subsist in its perfection, say some of those who are learned in this warm lore of the heart, betwixt more than two. I am not quite so strict in my terms, perhaps because I have never known so high a fellowship as others. I please my imagination more with a circle of godlike men and women variously related to each other, and between whom subsists a lofty intelligence. But I find this law of one to one peremptory for conversation, which is the practice and consummation of friendship. Do not mix waters too much. The best mix as ill as good and bad. You shall have very useful and cheering discourse at several times with two several men, but let all three of you come together, and you shall not have one new and hearty word. Two may talk and one may hear, but three cannot take part in a conversation of the most sincere and searching sort. In good company there is never such discourse between two, across the table, as takes place when you leave them alone. In good company, the individuals merge their egotism into a social soul exactly co-extensive with the several consciousnesses there present. No partialities of friend to friend, no fondnesses of brother to sister, of wife to husband, are there pertinent, but quite otherwise. Only he may then speak who can sail on the common thought of the party, and not poorly limited to his own. Now this convention, which good sense demands, destroys the high freedom of great conversation, which requires an absolute running of two souls into one.
'I CAN"
When it was already our Filipino time, we presented our report about the film we viewed entitled “DO-RE-MI”. After the report, Mdm. Montano set the cassette and gave all of copies of the song “I Can” which is the theme song of the movie we viewed. When all of us were ready, Mdm. Montano played the song and we sang together with the music. When the song was done. Mdm. Rewind it and played it again. And during these time Mdm. Told us to hug all our friends especially to those who aren’t so close to us. Some of my classmates started to cry especially Grace, Eiza and Isabel since they are having a misunderstanding towards each other. I didn’t cry, actually I was laughing at that time. Again the song was done and we requested to play the song again. And during this third time, Mdm. told us the real essence of life. Life isn’t happy without friends to lean on, we should always take good care of our friends because all of them are important. And you can do whatever you want if you’ll just try your best to achieve it and also with the support of all your friends. I was looking at the window beside me that time, when my tears suddenly fell slowly by slowly. And I realized why is it so. I realized that I should give importance to all of my friends instead of thinking of somebody. My face was very wet because of my tears, and I realized that I should stop thinking of him because I’m so tired already. I’m so tired of loving him! But one thing that I can’t accept is that I can’y forget him.
Mdm. Montano asked all of us to stand and hold each others hands and sing “Hawak Kamay”. I stopped crying even though I can think of him (because of a “chizmiz”) every time I hear the song. And again I laughed because I saw Paolo in the urge to cry.
During the last time around of the song, I realized that this is a nice day because at least all of us expressed our real feelings.

Couldn’t it be that life is what meaning we put into it?
Now and then, I also ask what meaning has my life really. Often, I feel like I know but at other times, my thinking looks like a useless mental exercise. Life is just so vast, so full of mysteries that before I can put meaning to my life, part of it is gone and the meaning I try putting on it is already partly exhausted.
Life, so it seems, is like dry sand slipping through my fingers. When I try to hold on to it very tightly, as if squeezing it, it slips away faster. But when I try to cast it away, it sticks on my hands. Sometimes, I think, to appreciate life best, one has neither to hold on to it tightly nor to let it go so carelessly. The sand in the hourglass is life. It is better to let it flow freely, although not carelessly.
How we take life is often dictated by what priorities we have. And life, being so vast, offers everything which can be a priority to us. A student even so eager to get out of poverty would say “life will be meaningless if I don’t finish my studies.” A terribly-in-love woman would say, “should I lose him now, life will be meaningless to me.” And an alcoholic, trembling with the urge to drink, would be ready to give everything he has, even his dignity, for a bottle of liquor. Then, there is this young ambitious businessman whose desperately wants to make his first million seems to matter.
Life is precious indeed, full of colors, full of happiness and also sadness. We people handle our life in different manner. We have different emotions as we meet different situations. Keep this in mind, life is just very short. People haven’t thought of the damage they impact on themselves momentarily as they go into cigarette smoking, drug addictions, excessive drinking and many vices to mention. Without realizing that the more they enjoy those vices the more they are making their lives shorter. Indeed it’s true; we enjoy those stuff without ourself realizing that we are out of sanity, making our own destruction. Yes, I know we enjoy life but we don’t think that because of too much enjoyment we are most likely killing ourselves early. I know we don’t want that to happen. Eiz, may I ask you, who wants to die earlier? I know your answer will definitely be No, right?
Hello! People, you must wake up from you deepsleep. When are you going to change unwealthy way of living? Until the time has come for you, that will be slept in drugs and never again to wake up from that deepsleep?
Life… life is very important. But, the question is, do we gave a damn on it? How do we handle life? These are the questions that bother us. Yes, it’s important, but why are we abusing life? Why do we have to let it go to the wrong track and then destroy it totally? Is this how we care about the life we have? Hello!, wake up. Try to think again; look around you and observe the people that surround you. After that, observe yourself and how you differ from others. And try to evaluate.

WHAT DO THE STARS IN THE SKY TELL US ABOUT LIFE?
How I wonder what you are.
Up above the world so high

How I wonder what you are.
Star is a celestial body that appears as a fixed point of light. But, you can’t just define stars in this way.
Try to look in the sky. It is filled with stars, right? But sometimes stars can’t be seen because the clouds cover them, or you can see but you can just count them. Compare your life and the scenario that I gave. In my own opinion, stars are like people. Sometimes you are happy together with your family and friends, and in some sad situations, you are left all alone with no one to call or to lean on.
In the other hand, when we speak about stars in the sky, Astrology came in through my mind. Sagittarius (constellation which is a half human and half horse) is my zodiac sign. I have read in a book that a Sagittarius woman is compatible with a Leo man. But, I think it is not true since, as what Mdm. Gallo told us “You can’t rely your life on earth!”
So, to end this topic (because I can’t think anymore). A star is like a person sometimes happy with other companions and sometimes sad because you are all alone.
HOMOSEXUALITY
Homosexuality is considered as acceptable practice by many in our world today – even by some churches but society does not set the standard for God’s law. Many homosexuals believe that their desires are just normal and they have a big right to express themselves and their feelings. God does not oblige nor encourage us to fulfill all our desires (even normal ones). Those desires of us that violated His laws must be controlled and eased.
Many heathen practices are encouraged now and while God is willing to receive anyone who comes to Him in faith and though Christians should love and accept others no matter who they are, where they came from and what they have done. Homosexuality is still strictly forbidden and condemned in the Scriptures. The Bible says, “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.”(Leviciticus 18:22).
“Sodomites” may refer to homosexuals. There are those who attempted to legitimate homosexuality as an acceptable alternative lifestyle. Even some Christians say people have a right to choose their sexual preferences. But the Bible specifically calls homosexual behavior a sin. The Bible says, “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, or adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortionists will inherit the Kingdom of God.”(Corinthians 6:9, 10)
God’s plan for natural sexual relationships is His ideal for his creation. Unfortunately, sin distorts the natural use of God’s gifts.
Sin often means not only denying God but also denying the way we are made for this world. When people say that any sexual act is acceptable as long as nobody gets hurt, they are fooling themselves. In the long run, (and often in the short run), sin hurts people – individuals, families and societies.
God hates sin but loves the sinner. We must be careful, however, to condemn only the practice, and not the people. Those who commit homosexual acts are not to be feared, ridiculed or hated. They can be forgiven an their lives can be transformed.
Remember, God can and will forgive sexual sins just as He forgives other sins. Surrender yourself to the grace and mercy of God, asking Him to show you the way out of sin and into the light of His freedom and His love.
The church should be a haven of forgiveness and healing for repentant homosexuals without compromising its stand against homosexual behavior.
If you are already deeply involved in homosexual behavior, seek help from a trustworthy, professional, pastoral counselor. And also don’t forget to call God for help. Repent and just believe and you will see how your life changes. For whoever comes to Him shall receive happy and eternal life.
BELIEVE: GOD REALLY EXISTS!
ATHEIST...Who are they?
An important point is that Atheist is not just ordinary people living in this world but they are extra-ordinary people who have been through high standards of education. Many of these Atheists are famous in their fields of study. Some of them are geniuses and others are well educated such as Karl Marx, Sigmund Freud and Leonardo da Vinci.
REASONS of being an Atheist...
There are three things to consider in this issue. First, if people are not believers of the Holy Bible as the ultimate truth, then they are convinced that there is no God. We should not reject the Holy Bible; to reject the Holy Bible is to love your faith. The Bible explains almost everything; how God created man and how His son suffered for the sake of us. The Bible says “Through faith, we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do not appear”. (Hebrews 11:3)
Second, if a person has acquired too much knowledge of this world, he would think that there is no God. The world teaches not as the Holy Bible. A good example is the belief that God is only a perception of the mind or “to see is to believe”. Since we cannot see God then there is no reason to believe in His existence.
However, the Bible says that through faith you can come to God. The Lord Jesus Christ emphasized true faith by saying: “Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet believed” (John 20:29).
Third, a man would be willing to delete God in his life. Human beings are sinners and human being has the right/freedom to do whatever they want.
The Bible calls atheist fools! As is phrased in Psalms 14:1, “The FOOL, had said in his heart, THERE IS NO GOD! They are corrupt, they have done wicked things, and they haven’t done well.” The true atheist is foolish or wicked – foolish because he ignores the existence of God or wicked because he refuses to live by God’s truths.
GOD LOVES YOU VERY MUCH
God did everything for us to know the truth”. Who will have all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth?”(I Tim 2:4). God gave his only unconditional love for all people for us to be free from sins and for us to live in a peaceful world. The truth is that if you’ll accept Jesus Christ in your heart and life you will experience eternal life. The Bile says: “For God so loved the word, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believed in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
REFLECTIONS ON BEING A TEACHER AND TEACHING.
Know Your School Day! Know Your School Day! Know Your School Day! What does it mean? We are just Freshies and we don’t know what this thing is. So ate Ynez Polistico of the 3rd years explained to us this Know Your School Day event and told us what our role in this event is.
Know Your School Day is an event in which for two days (Thursday and Friday) all faculty members of UP High (including the principal) are replaced by students. I think it isn’t good because a teacher is really different from a student. And a student can’t show enough respect to their fellow student compared to a real teacher. But this event is just rare so all of us applied being a teacher in what subject we like.
At first, I wanted to teach for Science – C, but almost everybody applied for it so I chose
When Friday came, Rary, Grace and I were planning for our discussion. When it was already 11 o’clock in the morning. We started to teach.
It was very disgusting for me since almost everyone were not listening and Rary almost discussed the whole topic. He feels like he was the only one teaching.
We reported to Ms. Rabago what they have done during the discussion. Ms. Ligaya Rabago Visaya was so disappointed about the behavior of our classmates during the class. M. Ligaya Rabago Visaya told us that even though we were just a student we must respect each other. To teach in front of students is hard but also it is a challenging task.
Now I realized that to be a teacher is so difficult. You must catch the attention of your students. And I realized that as a student we must respect our teachers by listening to them. So people open your eyes and come to think of it. Respect is what all the teachers need. So from now on we must respect our teachers because all they are doing is just for all of us, for our own selves and not for them!
